OUDF401 - comparing joy divison to dunlop tires

Comparing Joy Divison – atmosphere to Tony Kaye Dunlop tries

During this short essay I will write about how the similarities have changed over the years by comparing joy division and Dunlop ties advert they both have the same similarities because they are both trying to grab the audience to entice you to either buy or listen to the music.

Joy division was film in such a way that it took you deep into the emotions of the song because it is trying to convey the message of being sad about the lead vocalist of the band passing away so throughout the video you see monks in white and black robes walking around holding a candle flame they did this so that they could get across the feelings of sadness and also the feelings of unease.

On the other-hand we see the video for Dunlop tires where this has had a very visual effect on the audience watching it they made it seem like the tires where an actual being to reinforce the point of them being tough and durable being able to last anything. But the where are a few quick shots to people wearing leather by doing this they are showing how the tires are trying to be tough but then you come to realise after watching the video.

For both of these videos even though they are completely different subjects they still have so many similarities by what they are trying to get across to the person viewing it but most of the time whilst you are viewing the video you don’t realise this happening to you.

During the time I have studied both videos I have come to the conclusion that they have both been very similar they both send across the same feeling whilst you watch them the only exception is that one of the videos is relating to tires and the other is related to a music video .
