OUDF502 - competition brief
for the competition i had to do i had chosen to do something to do with designing you're own pirate it could either be a stop motion figure or it could be anything thing you wanted weither that be hand drawn or animation just as long as its a pirate thats the brief so i started making my own version of polly the pirate
OUDF503 alpha bites
and for the final desings i wanted to go with something that felt very scratched into the surface of so thats why i went twith the jagged edges and also the way the lines flow over the page i wanted it to look that way because of how it would be seen to the viewer then when it came to making the final desing this was a homage to the original idea i ever had with the bear surrounding the font itself because i tink it brings alot more energy to the piece with something being there surrounding it .

again like the last time i wanted to create something that would stand out a lot because you want it to go to the imagination of the viewer so that it would stay into you're head because thats why i went with these styles s that it would stay in you're mind so that if the viewer saw this on a box they would automatically know what it is.
OUDF503 - more alpha bites
for this one i wanted to go with a feel of letters that have fallen onto leaves so that it would bring out the jungle side of what alpha bites is all about its about having fun with you're ideas and being able to make it convey over to a younger audience so thats what i was trying to do here for incase with the look of each font type like on the bottom one i have the bear paws coming out of the letters so that it can try and stick into the kids mind when they see it they would like it and then in doing so have them eat more of the cereal.

when it came to creating these fonts i wanted to go with something that looked like it had fur on it so that it would stand out to a child's eyes when they saw it on the back of a cereal box and i did this because thats whats important about font you want it to stand out to the viewer so that it sticks in the head and then once you see it again you would automatically know what it is and where it belongs but for the first font i went with a bubble type look so that it would look more 3D in the space it had then when it come to the second and third one i wanted to make it look like it was sticks and ten the last one to look more like a fur thats on a bear itself .

OUDF503 - Alpha bites
when it came to me having to re make the alpha bites designs again at first i was worried about doing it because i didn't think i would be able to create something that could stand out in the crowd but i stuck at it and then i realized that i was starting to enjoy making some of the designs but it wasn't easy because its not in my comfort zone to me making font types so when you see what i have created i know that they wont look the best of deigns but its not something that i found easy in the end i came out with a few bold types that would fit in well to the cereal box logo and type .
OUDF505 - cinimatics
every time i play a game i never seem to be upset with the quality of the cinematic and i think this is because the games that i play always seem to show up alot of emotion in the scene and that's what i think games can projects across alot very well and this will keep on happening thought out the generations like with the leap to the next gen console for instance they have been able to develop everything more further because of all the little tweaks the games designers are now able to put into them and i think it conveys much more that we had before.

OUDF503 - cereal brands
i haven't had the chance to try this cereal brand before but i have noticed again how the manufacture uses the images of two beloved characters from the Flintstones to pull people into buying it for there children also because the title of the box looks similar to the Flintstones font they are able to pull on that and create something that would look like that so that it will give it a better audience of people who will want to eat it plus considering that fruity pebbles is a healthy cereal nits contradictory to most cereals that are not healthy in some ways.

the reason why i would like to talk about cereal brands and how they brand their products is because i am trying to get a better idea of how they project there products to a certain audience for instance children with the designs they use so that once the child sees it they will think it looks like a tastes cereal to eat and for this i have a few brands that i would want to talk about .
number one coco pops they have been around for many years now and i for one can remember eating them when i was a child and still do now but i never really took the time to realize why they have used a cartoon version of a monkey on the box itself and then i have come to the conclusion that its all about reaching a certain audience with their products now many cereals do this by showing the viewer adverts of this particular money doing funny things so that it grabs the child s imagination so that when they see the cereal they will instinctively want to eat it i think its all about subliminal messaging in a way that it sticks into you're head so that once you see it you will want to purchase it.

OUDF505 - bungies destiny and the game engine that runs it
Destiny is the next standalone game that will be brought to us by bungie the team that is responsible for creating halo and many other titles but i digress this game has been in the makings for the last few years now and will be coming to us in September and it has been made with a game engine that is similar to unreal when watching some of the footage that they had shown off at E3 i had noticed that they use alot of the power of the graphic engine and also they are making sure that they utilize a lot of the game itself so that it comes over like they had invichioned it to do but thats the one ting about the game that i really do enjoy is that the game engine for this work has been pushed to the limit all the game their is no pulling back .
OUDF505 - Far cry 4 cinimatic
far cry 4 is another one of those examples of what i have previously stated that the cinimatic is where the game developers show the story but rather than though game play its though the means of showing you a short film in a scene but by doing this it has been used in a game rather than on the big screen its one certified way of them being able to convey every bit of the story they want they can make it as captivate or they could just rely on the mood change in the characters faces to show what they are wanting to express on the screen to you so for instance in the opening cut scene from far cry 4 this is where the villain is introduced to the player he comes across all smug and makes you know not to get on his bad side but when you do thats where everything comes apart at the seemes and it enfolds into an all out war angainst him and his group of mercenaries that are holding up the Philippines and you have to try and liberate the pace from his tirinany.
OUDF505 - Cinematic in games
games over the generations have used cut scenes and cinimatics to show how the game can look in certain aspects they make it look fantastic and so highly polished that it makes the viewer of it want to buy what their product is and thats why i think they are used plus on the other hand they are a way for the game makers to convey the story across to the player so that bit by bit they know whats going on at each stage of the game because if it wasn't there in the game itself it would just seem like you was only doing one thing for nothing its the meaning of the cut scene/ cinimatic to tell what parts of the story they want across to you in a much easier way rather than have you just play the game without anything there in my eyes it brings the story to life and makes the journey your undertaking seem more purposeful.

after watching this years 2014 E3 i realized that they have gone into alot of detail and also the games have now been able to add a lot more of things in the cut scenes/ cinimatics because of how much they presented at the E3 stage demo when batman came on at fist when i saw it i thought it was just game play i was seeing but then i have come to the realization that it was a seemeless blend from the cinimatic to the game play and this got me thinking that one day when it comes to making something like that i want to be able to put a lot of detail into it and then it could come out looking something like i saw.

OUDF502 - the hobbit concept art drawings
whilst i was watching the hobbit i started to realize that the work that they do on this films is so much they have to do all the animations and then the costume and concept art designs and it just makes me want to work for weta but sadly i carnt because f how far away they are but once i have seen the work that they produce i always get the feeling myself to start drawing something that i will in the end enjoy alot because ive always enjoyed doing fantasy drawings.

whilst looking though the Internet i had came across this piece of concept art and it had me in absolute aw at how much fine detail had been put into it it just has be thinking of what to create over the holidays i think i am going to try and developed something as detailed as this so that i can come to make a animation of in but i mean traditional animation non of that 3D stuff its not the strongest point for me but this is a challenge that i think i might set myself.
OUDF502 - the amazing spiderman 2
the amazing spiderman 2 was fantastic film it kept unto its hype that was made about it and was also worth the long awaited time for it i did enjoy every minute of this film even the bits where spiderman had to be made completely into a cgi character because at the points where it happened i didn't realize until i went home and researched it myself but this is still an amazing sequel to the fist film and is a 10 out a 10 film .
OUDF502 - elder scrolls online
elder scrolls online was one game that i was looking forward to but once i had started to lay it i realized that it wasn't as good as they developers Bethesda had promise it was incredibly lagging in the towns the game is just very slow paces and all of the dialog from the npc characters are really dull i found this to be one of the most slow games i have played this year but then on the other side i really enjoyed looking at all the concept art work that had been created for this title and how they had been created
OUDF502 - RocoCop
when i watched the new robocop i didn't have high hopes for it because i am a really big fan of the originals but i was in aw at how incredible this film was all of the visuals where done so imminence quality and it didnt make me think that it was going to be a poor film anymore even the new story was great because of how it went compared to the original i loved this from start to end it is a must see if you haven't seen it already .

just wanted to show some more character drawings that i have seen that make me love concept art so much this is why i love doing what i do because i want to be able to make characters for some company one day and i hopefully will get the chance to like when i look at this picture it makes me think about all the things that are needed to make it and i am starting to develop them at the moment but i need to make then more defined for the 3rd year of my studies.

when i look at artists that are in the industry there has always been one that i admire alot and thats martin deshambult he worked on most of the assassins creed games and i have always loved his work its inspired me a lot over the years because one day i want to be able to be that good i have loved how he used the colors to make the shapes of the character and also how he is able to convey what the character looks like just by adding certain types of clothing like this character for instance it is the main protagonist of assassins creed 3 Connor and it just gives me inspiration so that i am able to make stuff like this one day .
OUDF502 - watch dogs
watch dogs has to be one of the most anticipated games of 2014 and i can assure you i will be one of the millions of people to be purchasing myself a copy and this is because of the story i think it is a truly well though out story and also with how much realism has been put into the game itself just thinking about it you know that someone out there would actually be able to hack into everything this makes the game alot more appealing to be because it grabs on a subject so strongly and its something that i haven't seen done in a game before and this is what i believe makes it one of the most wanted games of this year because of how strong this story will actually be.
OUDF502 - infamus second son
at first i wasn't sure about this game but when i had looked at the concept work that is incredibly and beautifully details it made me think will i ever be able to get to that standard of work one day i hope that i will because i amm going to be trying my best to update my skills over the holidays so that when my final year comes i will be alot more focused on how i want my pieces of work to come out like an thats what i want to come across but then i started thinking what is the game like so i payed it minding i have never played a infamous game before and my god i was seriously shocked at the game it was perfect even though it has a controversial ending i still found it to be engaging with the player and a good way to and the game if you had either choose the evil path or the good path.
OUDF502 - killzone shadowfall
when i have had the chance to i have been playing killzone shadowfall and all i have to say is this is one of the most visually stunning games i have ever had the chances to play its absolutely gorgeous From cutscenes to game play is is seamless even the controller are perfect they have truly thought everything out for this triple a title but i digress before i played the game i took the time to delve into the concept art of the game and i was blown away from what i had seen an that put me in a good mood to thin that one day i will be able to be doing stuff like that for a company but that day is still long away but well wished for.
OUDF502 - PPP Tv series
i had just recent had the chance to watch merlin the tv series and i was blown away i though that the ending of the fifth season was a bit bad but unfortunately the show is now canceled but whilst watching it i notice all the vfx stuff that they had used and it was alot of flames and also a animated dragon voice by john hurt but this still put me in absolute amazement at it because i though this would e a good thing to give me ideas and also inspiration on what to make other the summer holidays.
OUDF502 - Snowdrop engine
when i first saw this game engine i wanted to be able to use it but i then discovered that i wont be able to because its currently been used to make the new tom Clancy game the division but i still have high hopes that one day soon i will be able to get my hands on this and start to create some wacky and strange things in the game space but until then i will just have to wait but then on the other hand i have unity 3D that i can use even though i carnt get the pro version i am still able to making something look nice on the engine.

when it came to this year i didnt realism hat i would have to use unity again but once i got my hands on the game engine i started to realize that hadn't forgotten that much i had been able to make something for the last brief i had but i was surprised by the outcome of it then it dawned on me that i really enjoy using and making game levels but i had always wanted to do concept art but i am still going to be following my dream and will be continuing to do concept art for my next year to come.
OUDF502 - ubisoft
as a game company over the years ubisoft have realease some of my favorite games that i have ever played but on the other hand i have always thought about how much time and effort they put into doing all of these projects and for some it can take upto 4 years even longer sometimes and it makes me think that if they can do it then so can i i have and always will love to play their games and i hope that in the near future i could be working for them but that is till in the further only time will tell but until then i still am going to be having much fun with what they have out at the moment like assassins creed, far cry and soon to be released watch dogs.
OUDF502 - PPP games and how they have developed further
i had recently been able to purchase a playstation 4 and this concole is truly incredible with what it can do and how well it cuts from cut scene to game play it is incredible they have managed to make something that is so amazing in my eyes i am looking forward to the new titles that will be coming out over the holidays an then its a great way for me to be able to start reviewing them as well because some of the games have been outstanding but then again with what you have already for the ps4 the new dual shock controller in perfectly balanced and even how they have integrated the touch pad in it as well works great with games its truly a next gen console .

whilst we had the talk with game republic earlier today he mention yogscast with how well they have done every day they get 2.5million views and the most percentage is of the united kingdom but then they also have other views from all around the world that watch their videos but on the other hand it helped me knowing what to do for when i finish my year its given me insite in what to do if i want to go down the route of making a game then if i wanted to get it shown if i could get it to the yogscast it would be the most helpful when that time comes.

earlier today whilst i was doing my end of year exhibition we had the chance to go and see a spokes person from game republic it was an extremely good thing that i went because i had learnt alot because of some of the things that i can do when it comes to the end of my third year and when i want to get into my career he had shown us alot of stats that helped me understand how the industry is going and how that game magazines arnt as useful in someways compared to what we can now do on youtube for instance there are more people today that would rather watch stuff on there about games than purchase a magazine and i found this information really help full because it shows me another way of me networking that i could possibly do to get myself out there and known to the gaming world of today.

over the holidays i will be starting to developed my skills further in the filed of concept art because when it comes to my final year i want to be able to show how much i have progressed with that being in how the pictures look or either with how they are drawn so im going to be starting to look at different types of human designs and perspectives then i shall be attending some life drawing classes so that it can progress further then it means that my work wont be the same quality next year but hopefully it should have improved .

OUDF502 - PPP learning journal
For this year i have come thought a lot of troubles and also then improved on alot of things like my drawings i feel like in the long run they have got alot better in how they look and also the finished design but i am needing to improve it more for my final year that will be starting in September but whilst im on the holidays i shall be trying to improve my skills so that when it comes to my work pace it shall pick up the pace alot more and then for my other projects they have been enjoyable but i felt like i wasn't being doing them as well as i could have been but this will stop once i am in my final year of study.

OUDF505 - the design started to shape up more
this is a brief part of where my design started to gather shape and then this is where it started to become a final design for my troll and its also about the tine where i had to be moved groups because of my group decided they didn't want me but nethertheless i still carried on worth doing work for there final designs but once i got moved onto a different group we had to start ,making stuff for a wild west game instead.

after watching the hobbit i started getting a better look and design in my mind where apart of the troll could hae been made out of rock itself so it looks like the character has had to make him self pull out of the rock and then make his way to where the other charter is but then this look and design for me worked out really well because our idea we wanted it too look fierce and then to have it look really fierce and demanding in its way it presents it self.

when it came around to me starting to create the troll design i started with alot of bulky designs for him because i though that it would have made the character look more like a heavy being walling around then when it came to the 3D modelling that would have added to it as well in that being making it look wighted and bigger than it was ment to be .

when i started this brief i was thinking it would have been a great time for me to develop my concept much further than i have done before because thats the one thing i want to focus on more but when it came to it i started out in one group but then i had to be changed over into a different group but i found it to be benifincal for me because rather than me having to develop work on trolls and a tribal girl i was able to start making stuff on the wild west an that was a fantastic idea to me .

Cop2 - digital artifacts
for my essay i decided to create some drawings of how i think game characters should look now considering how many years they have been going so i went on to make my own version of mario and i started to age him so that in his final pic i have him in a wheel chair looking older and a lot less like himself so that it would come across from my essay in that thats how i think games have changed over the years by having the main charter change ever so slightly and then yet they still look young so when i came about making this happen i wanted it to look more real to the character iteself.

How video games have changed through the years
This essay will be exploring
the way in that game industry’s have changed and developed there ways of making
and marketing styles through the years where its has become more widely open
now for people to be playing games than in was back in the early days so whilst
reading though I am going to try and explore both sides of the argument and then
rationalise with both forms and then come to my own conclusion in where I think
it is going and then where have believe it could go to make it a better system
for the years yet to come when this point started to circulate in my head it
was going around and around that I had to try and prove it in my own words how
I think what is happening in the game industry today.
In the living room today game
consoles are now a common thing but back when games started in (1971). They only appeared in a few houses
but now they have started to develop games consoles with a more sleeker look
that can make it fit in with anyone’s living space like the Xbox one in there
advertisement they state that the new next gen console that arrived in November
2013 in a lot of their press conferences also on E3 they mention that the new
system will be able to fit and look more suitable for any household an that the
new system will be more quitter than the Xbox 360 I believe this to be a
marketable thing because that’s what consumers are wanting to get out of the
modern day console so they have tried to give what’s the people want to them
and this in my eyes has been done very successfully and its something that
their rival company Sony had tried to do with the PlayStation 4.
The effect I think it has had
on the games recently during the past few years games have been on a constant
increase in price and then during the last year they have rocketed to £60 for
most next generation games they are the only ones that can be played on the new
consoles and this I feel is far too much if the economy is in a bad place at
the moment why would the company’s charge so much yes it takes a team of at
least 200 to make a game over a 4 year time period but this is far too much in
my eyes they don’t need to be demanding this much off customers for their
products id say if they could validate why it is worth this much then yes have
people buy them but with how much they are earning compared to prices of games
when they first arrived they where never as much as they are now the consoles
where not as good and as high graphic content but its still far too much for
people to be paying.
What’s going to happen with
games in years to come is I think that at some point they will be put up too
high and then no one will be bale to et them so the company’s will suffer from
not being able to sell any but then on the other hand they also have the
trade-in section at stores where they will be sold for a lower price and that
sometimes can help out company’s with things because the money they receive can
go to the next load of triple A titles they have in the works but that all
accounts for some of it they will have to make sure that when the time comes
they can branch out into other forms of advertising so then it makes then get
more publicity for their product they are selling.
When games started to immerge
they where mostly implicated towards boys in there younger years such as playstation
1 and then on the other hand we had Xbox and this was all done by the marketing
system’s used to make them more appealing for the younger boy generation and
this came across really well in how they did this and how they made the games
for instance when they made the games like tomb raider which came out in 1996
this game had a lot of mixed reviews where people where stating that Lara the
main character had a lot of de feminising views on her that the creators had
made her more of a sex icon than a actual woman in a game but what they people
didn’t know at the tie this was the only way necessary to be able to make her
look because at the time the 3D software that was used it make her look how she
did wasn’t that compelling in how it could be used to create things yes you was
able to make simple structures such as square buildings and then formations but
everything at first had to be developed with that standard square then changes
from like extruded so that you could manipulate the object in any way or form
so you had the free range to make what you wanted but in the playstation one
days it was very limited to what could actually be created and that’s why Lara
croft came out how she did but in later renditions of her the 2012 version
where you see Lara crofts new form she has came along a lot in how she has ben
developed and crafted to look a lot less de feminising and lees like a sex icon
for the younger and older generations of guys.

even kills. But she’s done so with over-endowed mammary glands and no hint of a
good support bra’’ this is one statement made by carol pinchefsky in the
article she reviews on tomb raider with Lara croft being a feminist icon she explains
how in her eyes she has changed and been developed over the years to come out
looking more and more different each time so that in the eyes of the viewer she
isn’t seen just as a sex icon for people
Mario is a prime example
of this and how I can show this is because how the games have portrayed the
game theme that a damsel in distress has to be saved by the male lead role e.g.
Mario this has been done in many games throughout the years and this has been
done to an effect where it has become common in games for them to use it in
games such as Spiderman or other Nintendo games there always seems to be a
damsel in distress and this has been commonly used in films todays and it will
be constantly used throughout the years Mario at first was seen as a guy game
because of the sinarios that occur in the game where you the hero have to go
though the odds to constantly save your princess from the dangers of death and
this occurs in all of the levels where you
have to constantly get to the end of the level an you find out that the
princess has been moved to another castle this is used to still have the
archetype them running along in the story but Nintendo have done this still
even in the recent releases of Mario brothers they still have the theme running
along where you the hero have to travel many distances to save your princess
from imminent danger but on the other hand this was done in the comic books as
well over the years there has been many hero’s that have had to travel though
and go through the odds to save their loved ones from danger and they are also
hero’s such as batman and superman but they to also go thought the same type of
danger. But when the games first arrives they where just seen as something fun
but when you look closer at them you suddenly realize that they are all the
same type of game that have been going since 1971 when they started to immerge
when Mario bros first came out in 1983 it was seen as just an ordinary game
where you the player have to jump over odds to get the damsel in distress but
when this was used it came to good effect and is still used today in modern
games and films of this era takes films for instance where the main lead has to
go though the odds to save the world from instant peril and deaths but this is
constantly used in movies like Hollywood blockbusters use in the lasts marvel
film Thor where we see a god have to go
thought a lot of turmoil to save his realm and then to save his beloved planet
earth from imminent destruction from the dark elder this was done to a really
good effect by them showing a lot of angles in the story and plot from thors
side and then the evil dark elders side.
Then again when we have games
they also started to introduces blood and gore to them in games like mortal
kombat that where more suitable for younger boy and older male generation but
when they came out they didn’t specify that they had to be of a certain age
group but this should have been done because eventually the game got banned
because of how much blood and gore and violence was in the game people started
to think that the game itself was responsible for kids and teens acting out at
people and then they believed that s started to make then go dangerous things
in society but we know that this cannot be the case because it has been proven
that games do not cause people to act out how they do its something to do with
how they are being told and thought . But then when the games started to
introduce the age limit on them they started to make sure that only a certain
age group could play them to ensure that if there was violence in the game only
18 plus aged people would be able to play them and this was done to quite a
good effect on the marketing style of them because it make adults know that
they shouldn’t be purchasing games that have the age limit on them fro their
younger children yet it is still going on mums and dads are still buying games
that are meant for the adult and children now a days ive seen people buying
call of duty modern warfare for a child that was at least 9 years of age and
yet the game retailers let them buy it and this shouldn’t cured in the world
today games have a age limit on them for a purpose and this should still be
kept to that purpose but people don’t use it to the right means necessary and this
has to be kept at the right age group for the society we live in.
Games that have used transmedia in them are
using the game knowledge to the right effect like assassins creed they are
being able to develop their story and much it in a lot more directions than they
could if they where just making an ordinary game by doing this they can branch
out to a lot more different means of telling it like films, games, comics, or their
books they didn’t this really well after they realised the assassins creed 2
game they stared development in the ways of making the story last longer and
they did this by having the games main story branch out into novels and then
different games itself they made assassins creed 3,4 and soon to be released 5
but on the other hand when they do this it could be used to a better effect by
having the games just stay how it was they could have made better alternatives
on how to ensure it went on more with an audience today.
The game industry today have
made sure that they have a lot of means to have people playing of all age group
and also they have made sure they target both female and male players because
when they had started it was mostly just a male audience but now with games
such as just dance that’s mostly targeted at a female audience and younger
teens its been made because they want to have people of all ages and also to
have both male and females playing this has also been done well in the newest
game grand theft auto 5 and how they did this was by having in the online part
of the game being able to have the player choose if they want to either be a
female online character by making sure this can be done it ensure that both
players can have un and interact with the game itself and it should be used in
more games because if they had the advantage of not just guys playing their
products it would have them benefit more on the other hand rather than just
having a guy audience playing it but when they do this it should make the game
business move along at a lot more better pace than it has done in past years
like with the recent console yes they did tremendously well at the first few
weeks of sales but now they are having to slow down the pace and not a lot have
been selling recently.
Then when we talk about games
consoles we have the intend wii which is a great use of the fact they have ages
of all groups playing it its been marketed not just to a male console but a
family one where you can have people of all ages playing it’s a simple yet east
console where you have a game sensor on the TV and the player has a remote of
some sort and all they have to do is move it accordingly to what the game tells
you and considering that games only used to be just hand held this was quite a
really big jump forward yes the graphics of the games may still be abit behind
but it is still a good part of using the family to a good effect of games don’t
just have one person playing have everyone playing and joining in on the fun
that you could have rather than just have it be one person have everyone in on
the action at least.
In the end I believe that
games and the consoles have changed a lot over the years either it be how they
have used different marketing strategy’s or either it be how they have pushed
to have all the family in on the game it will still be changing over the years
to come and this is a good thing that it is getting developed further we don’t
want to just have one person plaing it has to be a full family ordeal and not
just for the males in the world like when they started developing games for
women as well this was a big leap forward in gaming because it meant that it
isn’t more of a guy thing an that was sexist in my view its good where we can
have the whole family coming in to have fun and play and then join in so that
the whole family can enjoy what’s happening plus when they start developing
further this will mean that we have better games and also better consoles even
one day we might have a console just for the female player I hope that this
essay has maybe changed your view on how games and everything type of marketing
style has changed over the years in games and also characters as well this was
done by having a knowledge of what’s happened and will be happening in the days
yet to come.

OUDF503 the bear design
for the bear design i wanted to make him look like a normal bear so that the kids that saw the cereal packet would instantly recognise it so i started with making it look big si then i made him look chunky and fat but that went on to become my love for the logo and the bear itself i wanted him to look like a fat and loving bear so this is how my final design came along the image thats displayed on the bottom is the deign that i had chosen for the final outcome of the bear look and the logo.

the first look at the bear grasping the font was something i enjoyed doing a lot so this came my main look i did for the design of the cereal packet and i really do hope this is coming across how much i liked this it stared with the design of the bear logo and i though to myself why don't i incorporate the bear with the logo itself so i did this by having the bear paws come over the font and start to eat and devour the logo.

the design i did at the top left of the pic i started to enjoy this a lot more than the over design because i wanted the paw print of the bear to be in the font itself so i started my design with hard lines then i want the font to be a bold and a iconic look to it so this i hope came out quite well in the design of it in the brief it states they want a bold font so his is what i went on to make for them.

for my design i started with so block letter for the bear logo so i went onto having it look like a maya or anime style type so i wanted this to come across i my designs i went on to look and design these from what i had been watching and looking at for inspirations and this was something i found hard at first because i hadn't drawn type for many years and i hope that you can see that i have incorporated the bear into the logo itself.

for my bear design i wanted to have something look elegant and simple enough for packet so i started to look at comic book and also cartoon bears so i could get a feel of how both of them would come out looking on my design but i didn't want to use too many-heavy lines when it came to drawing it i still wanted the cartoon feel to come across for it.

when it came to me designing the type that i was going to use i stared to look at colour and i wanted to make the colour standout for the cereal packed design so that the child who would be looking at it could recognise it instantly and not have to look at a different design and forget how it looked.

Then from that standing point i went on to look at the type of font that can e used on body tattooing because yet it make look different and in your face it is still a type of font used quite regularly so this came to a shock and owe me because i wanted to use something that could entwine with itself and not have any gaps inside the type itself .

when i frist started using font for the first time i wanted to look at all the types of font that are used today so i looked into the different ones used by disney and i wanted to get that child theme across quite strongly for the project so i had a look at wreck-it Ralph so that i was able to noise how all the types over time have shifted from being just traditional 2D look to a 3D look this came across quite well when i noticed disney have done this by having their designs change a lot through the years.

for this brief i wanted to create a stand out font that would be able to be spotted and noticed when it was first looked at so i came to look at all the types that could be created and i wanted to design something that a child could recognise straight away so this is how my journey stared and what i had looked at and developed for the project

for the project i decided to work with a brief that i had to create a font and something iconic to go with it so when this came about i went and looked at different types of type and then fonts so that i could come up with a stand out type and then i had to make something iconic to go with it this came a struggle to me but when i read it was called bear i stared to design a bear that could go behind the font to make it look like it was eating the type itself.

OUDF504 - Character development
When it came to creating the first pictures I had drawn I wanted to get the feeling across what if the devil or evil me was just in ordinary clothes so that it would be a lot harder for the person watching to realise who was either good or bad but in the end I decided to go with it because I liked the fact that the viewer might have to decide for themselves who they think is the evil version and who is the good version of me but I hope that it comes across in the final piece.
